What they did: CG characters, vehicles, 2D and 3D enviroments, natural phenomenon, Matte painting (set extension, cg lighting/relections), CG water/liquid, CG actors, compositing (adding CG to film)
This is great that such a large experienced special effects company did the special effects. This makes me much more excited for the special effects, since that is a pretty huge part of Percy Jackson. Avatar’s visual effects were awesome (my favorite part of the movie, especially the computer screen graphics) and Star Trek’s graphics were some of the best I have ever seen. Then you have the Curious Case of Benjamin Button that won an Oscar for Best Achievement in Visual Effects and Digital domain did the special effects.
