morgan meyer | November 30, 2009 at 7:35 pm

i like it alot. i wonder what they will do in the movie when it turns from pen to a sword? probly special effects.

Author comment by Kyle King | December 2, 2009 at 9:03 am

In the new trailer it shows Riptide in pen form as a click pen and it kinda just expands when he clicks the top of the pen.

stuart | December 20, 2009 at 3:29 pm

i thought you take the cap of to make the pen change into a sword?

Jessica | December 30, 2009 at 9:27 pm

Stuart, you’re right. This is just another inaccurate part of the new movie. Is it really so hard to simply pick up a 50 cent pen from the dollar store?

Jessica | December 30, 2009 at 9:27 pm

Sorry for not posting this in my last post. These pictures are amazing! That’s precisely how I imagined Riptide to look. Great job!

tiger | December 31, 2009 at 8:47 pm

I really like the pictures. I dont know why they change things in the movie. I just saw the trailer and I think the pen was gold. It was not the same as the book but it looks really cool

lsdk | December 31, 2009 at 10:07 pm

it looks fake

lsdk | December 31, 2009 at 10:09 pm

do a little better i mean, celestial bronze looks a little different and yeah

will | January 2, 2010 at 2:31 pm

the sword looks sweet but they have canged loads of stuff thats not in the book

javi | January 9, 2010 at 1:55 am

the pen is suppose to be a celestial bronze pen that changes to a 3-foot sword and its suppose to be straight not curved.

josh | January 9, 2010 at 8:17 am

i think they should go with the cap pen but thats just me and they should show a better picture of it than just what was showed

josh | January 9, 2010 at 3:20 pm

ok never mind i didnt know that you could click on the picture

chalee | January 21, 2010 at 2:46 am

There is another Rick Riordan series about half-bloods (demigods) called The Kane Chronicles. The first book, The Red Pyramid, is coming out May 5th. Link to the release: http://tinyurl.com/ycnmhnk

john | February 12, 2010 at 2:05 am

no, i mean the actual percy jackson and the olympian series
he shoul make a new one

john | February 12, 2010 at 2:06 am

should

christos | February 13, 2010 at 12:22 pm

if you clicked riptide and the sword came out the top, surely his thumb would get impaled! Its a cap 4 me

iuliuscaesar1396 | February 14, 2010 at 8:21 pm

I don't want to sound like a nerd because i'm not 1, but really the sword is extremely inaccurate. It would probably look like a Greek Xiphos. That would also make sense when Luke teaches Percy the disarming maneuver in the first book. just go on Google and type in Xiphos Sword. Just saying.

Isela Alesi R. | February 19, 2010 at 12:41 am

that …is…Riptide?? looks nothing that i have imagined it. sssooooo… okay later i'm going back 2 reading.(book 5 The Last Olympian!!)

Jayden | February 21, 2010 at 6:13 pm

In the book, yeah, you're supposed to uncap it. I dunno why they click it… maybe to show it's pen-ness? Lol :)

Jayden | February 21, 2010 at 6:14 pm

Yeah, that's really awesome!! Great job!! :)

Jayden | February 21, 2010 at 6:16 pm

Umm… I think the sword is straight in the movie. Pretty sure…

Jayden | February 21, 2010 at 6:17 pm

:) Good point!!

Jayden | February 21, 2010 at 6:20 pm

That last book is awesome!! (Like the other books in the series, as well.) That series is one of my favorites!! I'm kinda sad, though, because after that last book it's the end. :(

jason nightwing | February 21, 2010 at 6:24 pm

i didnt imagine riptide 2 be like that

ono | February 22, 2010 at 9:36 pm

It would be nice if in the movie they made riptide right but oh well. Just add that to the list of the other stuff they messed up

sockman91 | February 22, 2010 at 10:03 pm

i say the movie slautered the book they probably didnt even red the book

sockman91 | February 22, 2010 at 10:05 pm

bobby | February 27, 2010 at 3:09 am

i have read the entire sires of percy jackson and the lightning theaf

confused | February 27, 2010 at 4:53 pm

i think riptide looks fake.. and it is supposed to have a cap that you pull off the top and riptide turns into a sword! you are not supposed to click at the bottom!!!

Percy | March 3, 2010 at 7:48 pm

i would like to see it in action but the pictures basiclly explain it.

christaval | March 9, 2010 at 1:57 am
